1. You’ve successfully transitioned from corporate sales to music mogul to professor and investor. What’s the most important mindset shift someone must make to evolve from one level of success to another? You’ve navigated industries as diverse as entertainment, education, and even cannabis. What’s the key to adapting and thriving in completely different worlds?

(MK) The foundation for running a business is pretty much the same when we look at marketing, brand development, distribution alternative and product offering. The who, the what, the why and the where
.

2. Managing Destiny’s Child—and later Beyoncé and Solange—meant handling talent and legacy at the highest level. What do you believe is the difference between managing talent and developing greatness? What lessons can today’s leaders learn about nurturing potential in others while maintaining excellence in themselves?

(MK) Artist Development is a process of learning and requires passion, determination and work ethics.

3. Your book The DNA of Achievers outlines the traits of successful professionals. Looking back, which of those traits helped you most during moments of crisis or major change in your journey? Whether it was a business pivot or personal challenge like your health scare, what kept you grounded and focused?

(MK) Learning from Failure. Understanding the mistakes, failures, setbacks and adversity are often opportunities.

4. You’ve educated the next generation at institutions like Texas Southern University and London College of Creative Media. What’s the most misunderstood lesson about success you wish every young creative or entrepreneur understood earlier? What would you tell the 22-year-old version of yourself about building a life that balances purpose, profit, and passion?

(MK) Success is not micro waved. It requires knowledge, education, experiences and the passion of wanting to be GREAT and putting in the work.
